Helsinki – Scandic Grand Marina

This is the review of Scandic Grand Marina, a 4 stars hotel in Helsinki, where I stayed for 4 nights in October. Check more about my trip to Helsinki here.

About the Hotel and Get There

Hotel: Scandic Grand Marina ****
Address: Katajanokanlaituri 7, Helsinki
Contact: Website https://www.scandichotels.com

The hotel is located in the East part of the city, close to the Marina and Uspenski Cathedral. To Senate Square, 1km far, you can go on foot (10/15min) or take the tram 4 or 5, in the stop in the road parallel to the hotel (Kruunuvuorenkatu). They have a shuttle from the airport at took nearly 30 min. From the Airport you can take a train (5,50€ single trip) or the airport buses to Helsinki central station (Helsingin päärautatieasema) and then the tram 4 to Kauppiaankatu.

Check-in

I check-in nearly 5am. The process was a bit slow even more because I was very tired and wanted to sleep, but the staff was cordial.

Room

I was on room 505, in the 5th floor almost in the end of the Building and far from the lift. On first sight, for a 4 star hotel the room was small, without a closet, and the bathroom was very small too. They also have a VGA cable to connect the computer to the TV but the cable was very short and there aren’t any table beyond the TV to leave the computer. As amenities, they have a water warmer with a selection of Tea and Coffee.

Breakfast

The breakfast had some sort of fresh products, but mainly Scandinavian dishes. They have some fruit but you need to peel it (including pineapple).

Facilities

The hotel had a restaurant with local dishes as Moose and local fishes. I dinned here and paid nearly 20€ for a very nice meal. The hotel also have gym and sauna.
